overlooking Lake Maracaibo, Carlos Caridad Montero.
This 52-minute production directed by filmmaker Carlos Caridad Montero and belonging to the thematic series "Twentieth Century Venezuela " Bolívar Films Film Archive, shows the evolution of the city of Maracaibo during the last century, while trying to explain what factors have driven this particular way of being of Maracaibo, expressed in a regional framework.
This documentary presents the lake as the central element that generates lots of contradictions, because although it is precisely the origin of the city of Maracaibo and important means of livelihood and transportation at the same time, the greatest impediment for the physical integration of the region with the rest of Venezuela. Thus, it becomes home to many dichotomies, while advancing the century and the city is developing the river behind his birth.
Awareness, assessment of their own mistakes and the recovery of tradition, are fundamental tools with which Maracaibo is generating its first reaction to this situation, search to bring about change and thus allow the city again have the lake view that both claims.
