9 short shorts are saying about Venezuela

The Vertigo Magazine published a short national survey in which nine filmmakers reflect on this format, on the occasion of the IX edition of the National Short Film Festival Manuel Trujillo Durán.

On Monday 14 January Maracaibo activities started in the IX Festival National Short Film Manuel Trujillo Durán, the more extensive experience in the country. The inauguration took place on Friday 25 at 7:00 pm at the Art Center Lia Bermudez, with nearly 90 films in competition.

Manuel Trujillo Durán Festival occurs this year under circumstances that have been particularly favorable for Venezuelan cinema as far as regards feature films: 11 Venezuelan films were shown in theaters in 2006 and 9 in 2007 - to which add 2 co-CNAC.

2008 also seems to be started to implement on a regular display of both national as a prelude to the long-range two foreign films scheduled this way in January, "and last year was tested for the first time for more than two decades, the meeting 2 medium length to form a commercial close in duration to 1 long in Neither so long ... or as short Hector Palma, and there are 2 similar projects in the Villa del Cine in production.

F Viart summer

Viart is a collective project embodied in a video festival of Latin American university, composed mainly of a competition for university audiovisual Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Venezuela. The character of the festival is given because of the competition also offers workshops taught by talents from different countries and a series of screenings of previous festivals and artists from Venezuela and other countries.

Viart The main objective is to be a festival by and for students, creating a space for interaction and expression, which also can make a cultural exchange between participating countries which serve to establish links between young artists, universities and professionals.

Its essence is to seek the integration of Latin American youth through the visual arts, and although it is an arduous task to create a connection between American artists and leverage the existing platform for joint efforts in protecting our identity as Latin Americans, and find our common roots through cultural exchange.

This festival was created by a group of young producers and filmmakers looking to make a grain of sand to create a stronger film industry, making the interaction and contact between young American filmmakers so open the door to the creation of a visual language unique to our region.

Audiovisual is organized by the School Broadcasting
(EMA) of the Universidad de Los Andes in conjunction with the National Autonomous Cinematography Center (CNAC) and other entities of the Platform for Film and Audiovisual Media. The aim of the festival is to promote student production, through competition of short audiovisual different schools in the country, so to reward and promote outstanding novice creators, and compile the best audiovisual student for national and international exhibitions. José Manuel Funes
José Manuel Funes is one of those characters whose film has transcended reference to international levels, taking leading role in technical areas such as in supporting the formation of dozens of apprentices across the country, many prominent filmmakers today. His dedication and contribution transcends the field of film production, carried out in the present moment the quixotic task of preserving the valuable heritage of Venezuelan film, collecting over several years to film posters and equipment of all kinds, many of these still operation which will form the Film Museum José Manuel Funes. In his collection there are more than five hundred film posters and about a thousand or more pieces of technical equipment.


Rísquez Diego

began studying Social Communication at the UCAB of Caracas. After taking acting classes with Rosell Levy founded the group Semilla. This group made the short film on 16 mm Seven notes. Rísquez surprised many when in 1980 his film Bolivar Symphony Tropikal is presented in the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes. Thus began one of the most famous trilogies of Venezuelan film, supplemented by new world Orinoko and Amerika, Terra Incognita , making to the author Rísquez experimental film highlights come from these lands. In 2000 he Manuela Sáenz, the liberator of the Liberator, a film that reaches a resounding success with audiences and won numerous national awards, as well as Francisco de Miranda , released in 2006. was president of the National Association of Film Authors (ANAC) for 2000-2003.

C ezary Jaworski
Born in Warsaw, Poland. studied in the Film School in Lodz . Photographer, actor, enlightening and director of several plays. Director of Photography on several shorts and feature films. He has won several awards for his work in Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil and Poland, including the Coral Prize at the Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana , 1989 and First Prize for Best Short Film at the 25th edition of the Festival des Films du Monde de Montreal, 2000. In Venezuela, highlighted by the cinematography of Manuela Saenz, Tokyo Paraguaipoa , A house with sea view , among other features and shorts.

Nabor
Zambrano began studying sociology in Chile in 1972, but ended in Central University of Venezuela, where he studied Arts. Took courses in Radio and TV Production at the Alliance Française and Ateneo de Caracas. For over 30 years he has worked as a journalist for various print media, and has also served as producer on many radio and television. Has received a long list of awards for his journalistic career often linked to cultural sources, including most notably the National Journalism Award for Television Mention, awarded in 2003. In this edition of the Festival Manuel Trujillo Durán render it a fitting tribute for his valuable work on the small screen in Venezuela.


Franklin Pire

composer, pianist, pedagogue and musical theorist, graduated from the State Conservatory Piot Ilich Tchaikovsky in the city of Kiev, Ukraine in 1996 with the degree of MSc. in Fine Arts. He has composed numerous pieces for choirs, instrumental ensembles and orchestras. His music has been used audiovisual productions among which are the short A fishing day, the agenda item In Plural, and participated as a pianist in the main theme Star film composer Joligud Daniel Castro.
He served as Director of School of Music at Catholic University Cecilio Acosta between 2002 and 2005. He is currently professor of this university chairs in Musical Analysis, Physical Acoustics, choral arrangements, musical form, harmony and counterpoint as well as being professor at the Conservatorio José Luis Paz.

Jordan Josefina
began his work as a cameraman for political events and social movements in 1959 to ICAIC Noticiero Cuba. Alex Fleites
is a journalist, art critic, editor, poet and screenwriter. Though born in Caracas 53 years ago, from very small he settled in Havana. He has published in Havana eight titles of poems, for which he won several national awards. Has been included in important anthologies of Cuban poetry, published in the island and abroad. His work has been translated into Italian, French, English, German, Russian, Portuguese, Vietnamese and Macedonian. Important has been the editor of literary magazines, as Cine Cubano, The Cayman Bearded, Union and Artecubano. For eight years he was the director of Press International Festival of New Latin American Cinema held in Havana. has been sworn in Film Festivals in Rio de Janeiro ecological and Canary Islands. Nancy de Miranda
He graduated in 1995 from the School of Arts Central University Film Mention.
